Founder of the modern Turkish Republic and Father of all Turks.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, son of Ali Rıza Efendi and Zübeyde Hanım, was born in Thessaloniki, which was part of the Ottoman Empire then. From his five siblings only his sister Makbule Atadan survived childhood. Mustafa's date of birth is unknown, but it was chosen May 19, the day he landed in Samsun in the year 1919 to collect the forces to rescue the country from the victorious powers and the sultanate.
